we provided the music for the elise kim spring summer 2013 show at amsterdam fashion week. the young and very talented elise kim is a vietnamese designer based in the netherlands. she is known for her minimalistic and strong looks combined with fragile elements and an overall gentle feeling of love and tenderness. there are many many hours of work put into each design, most dresses take more than 300 hours to make.

the elise kim spring summer 2013 collection was inspired by the roaring 20’s, going from black into white and intense turquoise and green in beautiful materials including an abundance of lace. movement was a strong influence, beads and feathers danced on the catwalk while the models walked. it was breathtaking.

the 20’s have been used many times in the last seasons, so we decided to just use the sound of a needle on an old record to give the show the vintage feel it needed. all other music was modern and made by young artists like grimes, houses and the chromatics. we added the sound of chimes in the wind and soundscapes by the great alva noto to give the mix an extra dreamlike feel. during the finale all models were accompanied by men wearing tuxedos, we used the 20’s hit song ‘everything is hotsy totsy now’ by the coon-sanders nighthawks and added modern music underneath. it worked big time.

it was the first time we joined forces with elise kim and we truly loved the cooperation and the results. the elise kim show was part of the closing night at amsterdam fashion week and was made possible by the generous help of the flower fashion group. we can’t wait for next season!
