[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]We did the music for the Alexandra Frida FW17/18 show. The collection by this young Dutch designer was inspired by the Middle Eastern fairy-tale of 1001 nights. Persian princess Scheherazade had to enchant her husband the King by telling him stories… in order not get beheaded. And she succeeded.

The music score had to be an ode to powerful women, seduction and Middle Eastern music. The show opened with the epic Nautilus by Anna Meredith, followed by I Put A Spell On You sung by Natasha Atlas and tracks by Omar Souleyman & Bjork, Miss Kittin & Vitalic and last but not least Pilooski. The flow had to be as enchanting as Scheherazade stories, like the music used by snake charmers. It had to be festive too, so we added ululation chants from Algeria and Syria.

Walk-in sound design consisted of a desert wind mixed with the slowest tracks from the legendary album My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts by Brian Eno and David Byrne. During the walk-out we pumped up the volume and played Boyz In The Oud’s Cosmique Arabe.
